Our 200 year old house is situated in the village of Sainte Même, just east of the A10 autoroute, between Saint Jean d'Angely and Saintes.
We look forward to providing a hospitable welcome to our guests in an environment in which they can relax and enjoy their holiday.
The grounds of Les Grands Arbres extend to 5000m2, including attractive garden areas, an orchard, a large field and off street parking. There is also an open-plan barn with table tennis, table football, boules plus a variety of bikes are available for your use (please bring your own safety helmets).
The 10 x 5 metre heated swimming pool is surrounded by a large sheltered terrace, with sun loungers, tables and parasols within its own fenced area.
Our Gîtes (awarded 3 stars by the Local Tourist Office)
All the gîtes are furnished to a high standard, well equipped with kitchen utensils, ample crockery, cutlery and glassware, and a stock of books, CDs and some DVDs, satellite TV with selection of British channels and patio area with tables, chairs and barbeques. We also have a number of games which can be borrowed. Heating is provided for cooler evenings off-season and fans for the warmer months. Bed linen and towels are provided (please bring your own pool/beach towels).
No pets; no smoking within the gîtes.
Le Sapin - spacious accommodation for 6 to 8
Downstairs is a large open plan living area incorporating a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, comfortable seating area, 2 comfortable single-bed settees and wardrobe space. There is also an additional shower, w.c. and wash-hand basin.
Upstairs are 3 full-height bedrooms, one double and two twin, with fitted wardrobes and bedside tables. The bathroom upstairs has a full-size bath with shower, w.c. and wash-hand basin.
There is a large patio area.
Le Châtaignier – sleeps 2-4
Open-plan ground floor with a cottage-style kitchen, dining and lounge area and comfortable double-bed settee.
Upstairs is a full height bedroom with king-size bed and fitted wardrobes. There is a separate shower room with w.c. and wash-hand basin. The hall upstairs has additional wardrobe space and lovely view over the apple orchard.
Private patio areas front and back.
Le Pommier – sleeps 2
Delightful ground floor studio flat comprising kitchen area, dining space and living area with double bed settee, wardrobe space and bedside tables. The shower room has a cubicle shower, w.c. wash hand basin and heated towel rail.
There are 3 patio areas.
LOCAL AREA
The village has a general store, part-time post office and bar/ restaurant, and Saint Jean d'Angely has a market, restaurants, supermarkets, indoor water complex and cinema. Saintes has a wide selection of shops, restaurants, architectural and historical interest and Cognac, a beautiful old town, is less than 30 minutes.
Ste Même is well placed for La Rochelle and Royan on the coast, Rochefort and 'Green Venice'.
Activities include horse riding, kayaking, go-karting, golf and cycling.
Family days out include Futuroscope theme park ( Poitiers), Le Palmyre Zoo (Royan), The Valley of the Monkeys (Romagne) and Paleosite interactive theme park (Saintes).
