We are an English family, with two children, who live here year-round. Our aim has been to create a safe and fun environment for children, so that adults can relax and have a great family holiday, whilst adults wanting a break out of school holiday periods can enjoy privacy and tranquility.
Within sight of each cottage there is a car-free and naturally tree-shaded area where children can play safely. Available are: table tennis, boules, badminton, sand-pit with lid, swing and a comprehensive selection of games and books. We also have a grassed area ideal for cricket, rounders or football.
The pool is 12 x 6 metres (shallow end depth 1.2 metres) with large sun terraces all round. It is fully fenced and gated with a pavilion for shade.
We are open all year, including Christmas and New Year. Our cottages are insulated, La Bergerie has electric heating and a wood-burning stove (fuel supplied). La Petite Maison also has a wood-burning stove.
All 3 cottages have outside dining table, chairs, sun parasol and barbeque.
La Petite Maison (sleeps 2 adults + small child)
Living area with sofa, TV/video, dining table, bench and chairs. The fully-equipped corner kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, gas hob and electric oven with rotisserie.
Upstairs, the bedroom has a luxurious king-size double bed and built-in oak wardrobe. Ensuite shower room with WC, wash basin and large thermostatic shower. (Space in the bedroom for cot or small folding bed – available on request.)
Terrace facing south-east and west-facing garden.
L'Etable (sleeps 4/5)
Two bedrooms upstairs, one with king-size double bed, the other with two single beds. Bathroom with bath and integral shower, WC and wash basin.
Downstairs - beautifully-sized living area with dining table and chairs, sofa and folding bed (the 'fifth' sleeping place). Open-plan kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, gas hob and eye-level electric oven/rotisserie.
Large glass door/windows to superb private terrace. Enclosed garden.
La Bergerie (sleeps 7/8)
Three bedrooms: a magnificent principal bedroom with king-sized double; a twin bedroom and a triple (plus folding bed in any of these). Three shower/bathrooms, two on the upper floor (one ensuite with the principal bedroom) and one downstairs.
The living room contains a large dining table, chairs, sofas and a TV/DVD player. Open-plan kitchen, fully equipped with dishwasher, clothes washer, fridge/freezer, gas hob, microwave and eye-level electric oven/rotisserie.
From the living room, 2 sets of glass door-windows to private shaded garden and terrace.
LOCAL AREA
Martiel (1.5km) has a post office, school, bakery, grocery and bar/restaurant. Recreational lake with children’s play area and tree walks.
We are in some of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside in France, perfect for both cycling and walking.
Places to visit include Limogne (10km), famous for its truffles and Sunday market; the beautiful riverside town of Cahors (40 km); Villefranche de Rouergue (10km), an historic Bastide town; the medieval towns of Najac and Cordes-sur-Ciel; the ancient towns of St Cirq Lapopie and Conques.
Sporting attractions include canoeing, pedaloes, fishing, horse-riding, rock-climbing, potholing, Quad biking and motorbike scrambling.
Skiing 90 mins (beginners), 2 hours (Le Lioran).
Eating out is a particular pleasure in the Aveyron and our locality is a culinary delight.
