Our two gites offer an amazing holiday location. Tranquil without being isolated and with an abundant choice of day trips, you will have the holiday of a lifetime.
Situated off a quiet country lane in the Don valley, the gites have been created in the restored longere and are set in a large garden with plenty of space for sunbathing, with a safe play area for badminton and general fun.
Outside each gite there is a paved patio separated by trellis fencing for privacy with a BBQ and a wooden picnic table with parasol. As the property is not totally enclosed, young children need to be supervised.
The gites benefit from a large library of DVDs, books, indoor and outdoor games. We have 2 all-terrain bikes for hire and 2 ladies shoppers free. We also provide bedding, linen, tea towels, towels if requested and all the things you don't want to buy a stock of just for a holiday.
La Glycine (Wisteria - sleeps 5)
The larger of the 2 gites with thick stone walls, making it cool in summer and cozy in winter.
Comfortably furnished with large sofa, armchair, coffee table, rug and TV (3 French channels & DVD only), CD player, dining table and chairs for up to 5. Wonderful blazing log fire for cooler evenings.
The fully equipped kitchen includes electric cooker with oven, toaster, microwave, electric kettle, fridge/freezer, washing machine.
The spacious, romantic master bedroom is on a mezzanine floor in the converted loft (grenier) with vaulted ceiling and exposed ancient oak beams. En-suite shower room with WC and basin.
The twin bedded room is downstairs with en-suite bathroom with shower, WC, basin and bidet.
Baby's travel cot, raised child’s seat and folding bed available.
Le Chevrefeuille (Honeysuckle - sleeps 4)
A little smaller with a slightly different layout. Still a perfect place for al fresco dining or just chilling out.
The living area has 2 two seater sofas, wood burning stove, coffee tables, lamp, rug, TV for DVDs only with DVD player and a CD player. The table seats 4. The log fire makes cooler evenings cosy and relaxing.
The kitchen is fully equipped including washing machine, electric cooker with oven, microwave, toaster and electric kettle.
Upstairs the light and airy master bedroom is on a mezzanine, with vaulted ceiling and ancient oak beams. En-suite shower room with WC and basin.
The twin bedroom is downstairs with en-suite shower room, WC and washbasin.
LOCAL AREA
This is a magical area with beautiful scenery and so much to do; wonderful walks ancient chateaux, chapels and churches to visit, watersports of every kind including the town's indoor pool with spa and Jacuzzi, golf, fishing, karting, microlights and riding.
There are lots of local restaurants, with 10 bars and restaurants in Guemene Penafo alone.
Further afield, you can visit Josselin, the Loire vineyards and chateaux in the vicinity of Angers and Saumur. In August is the jazz and soul festival near Nantes and the medieval festival in Grand Fougeray, amongst many others.
