Although modernised and very well finished, Quatre Chênes still carries memories of its original construction as a large barn. It stands in several acres on a high point in Agnac, with a private swimming pool close by to the north, and the boules court to the west under the oaks from which the property takes its name. The west verandah is a superb place to wine, dine and chat in peace and quiet late into the night, or you can swim, play boules or table tennis.
Accommodation
Large kitchen with fitted pine furniture, gas/electric hob, extractor fan, built in oven, fridge/freezer, smaller fridge, dishwasher, microwave and an extensive range of kitchen utensils. A staircase leads from there to the upstairs.
In the same open-plan room is the dining room with large central table and chairs, books & hi-fi.
Utility room (exit to south terrace) with boilers for gas central heating (for winter lets) and hot water, washing machine, double sink plus ample storage space; separate toilet.
At the opposite end to the kitchen is the lounge area with comfortable settees and chairs, T.V. (BBC card & French domestic channels) with separate DVD/video and wireless broadband access.
Large en suite bedroom (double bed) with the shower room fitted out for usage by a handicapped person. Access to the south veranda then to the western one.
All areas mentioned to date are on one level to allow ease of access for people with walking difficulties, or for wheelchairs. On the west side of the lounge is a further exit, down steps to the west veranda that stretches the whole width of the house with stone barbecue and long table for the whole party.
Through the winter the house is often let to just a couple, as the downstairs is self-contained and can be curtained off from the first floor to make a large cosy apartment.
For larger groups upstairs there are four large bedrooms, two with double beds, one with three singles and the fourth with two single beds and 2 bunk beds. All bedrooms are furnished with light clean pine furniture, large wardrobe and chest of drawers.
The facilities upstairs are shared and comprise one bathroom with handbasin, one shower room with basin and toilet and a separate toilet.
Bedlinen, kitchen towels and tea towels are provided, but personal and pool towels are not. All products for the dishwasher and washing machine are provided, together with toilet rolls and cleaning materials. Electricity, gas and water included.
Outside, to the west there is the table tennis area, the floodlit boules court and children’s swings.
The swimming pool (11m x 5m) to the north is in a fenced area and has large terraces. The depth is 1m sloping down to 1m 60. The pool itself is floodlit, whilst there are several lights on the terrace to make the pool area enchanting for late evening swimming. Ample sun beds, hammocks, table and chairs and a 2nd smaller barbecue. Solar heated shower.
Ample parking is available.
