The front door opens onto the living area of the house, which consists of a seating area, a kitchen and open staircase. The seating area is equipped with a sofa bed, 3 chairs and a bench. There is a colour TV (French channels only at present), a DVD, a VCR, a mini-hifi with CD and tape decks, and an extra radio to receive Radio 4LW. There is a buffet containing crockery etc. a safety gate is provided for the staircase but supervision of young children will be required.
The dining area is located in the conservatory, which overlooks the garden, and comfortably seats 8. A high-chair is available.
The double-glazed windows can be opened fully or tilted and are fitted with shutters. Heating is electric in the summer and oil in the winter.
The kitchen has a 4-ring hob, an electric oven, a microwave and a fridge-freezer. There is a kettle and teapot in addition to a coffee maker. A full range of saucepans/casserole dishes and cooking utensils is provided.
From the kitchen there is access to the downstairs shower room, which has a full-sized shower cubicle, a vanity unit and a WC.
The large laundry room, at the rear of the property, contains a dishwasher and automatic washing machine and this is where you can store your beach paraphernalia too. Access to the car-port is from this room.
The master bedroom is modest but has a double bed, cupboards, drawers and a wardrobe. There is an en-suite bathroom too.
The twin-bedded room is larger with windows overlooking both the front and the west gardens. A large wardrobe provides storage for this room and the mezzanine, and there is a seating area too.
The mezzanine is furnished as a reading area but the daybed can be used as a single or double bed. A cot is available.
The large garden is mainly located to the west of the house and is a mix of lawn, mature trees and shrubs.
The patio faces south and west and is surfaced with gravel. The garden furniture is lightweight and can be relocated to a more shaded area if preferred.
There is a pair of swings, and games for the garden are available.
The drive is gated and the garden boundary is formed mainly by hedging and trees with some fencing. We cannot guarantee your dog would not find a hole in the boundary somewhere - dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.
LOCAL AREA
The house is located just off the D768, the main north-south route between St Brieuc and Auray.
The beaches and harbours of the Gulf of Morbihan can be reached within the hour. Mediaeval towns, chateux, lakes the Blavet Valley, golf and numerous other outdoor activities are within easy reach.
Plumeliau, 2kms away, can supply life’s essentials but Baud and Pontivy are close by for a more extensive choice.
With easy access from Dinard and Brest airports and the ferry ports of St Malo, Caen, Le Havre and Cherbourg, Les Chataigniers makes an ideal base for exploring this part of France.
