La Logerie, a working farm until 1994, is set in the heart of the gently undulating French countryside of the South Vienne.
A small tree lined stream meanders through the grounds, providing a cool and pleasant retreat from the sun.
Fields of sunflowers, corn and wheat predominate in the surrounding countryside, creating a rural paradise of peace and tranquillity.
An old long disused railway line adjacent to the property now serves as a byway, teaming with wild flowers and bird life.
The area is ideal for walking and cycling, and within easy reach is the River Vienne for water activities, and the towns of Poitiers, Cognac and the coast.
The pretty village of Mauprevoir is 2 kms distance with a small supermarket, boulangerie, pharmacy, post office, garage and bar/restaurant.
Our Gites
The cottages are all stone built, lovingly restored, with a wealth of oak beams.
They all include microwaves, dishwashers, fridge freezers, satellite television and DVD players.
They also have their own terraces, patio furniture and barbecues.
Towels and linen are provided and a cot is also available.
There is a laundry room.
Lavender Cottage – Sleeps 2 - 4
Well equipped kitchen, lounge / diner with door to terrace, sofa bed and dining area. The double bedroom has an en suite shower and WC. This cottage has no steps / stairs, wide sliding door to bedroom and shower room, and low level light switches.
Rose Cottage – Sleeps 6 - 8
Three bedrooms, 1 double and 2 twin, shower room and separate WC. Large lounge / diner with double sofa bed, doors to terraces. Well equipped kitchen and further separate WC.
Camellia Cottage – Sleeps 6-11
Three bedrooms, all with en suite shower and separate WC.One double on ground floor, one double with additional single bed and one twin with double sofa bed. Large open plan kitchen / diner / lounge, with additional double sofa bed. Door to terrace.
The Pool
Superb swimming pool, 12m by 6m, incorporating Roman steps and a solar shower. The pool is surrounded by a patio area with sun beds and parasols. There are wonderful views of the stream, woodlands and countryside beyond.
Table tennis, badminton, volleyball and boules are available on site. There is a children's play area with adventure fort, swings, slide, see-saw and sandpit.
It is possible to fish in the stream, which runs through the grounds and also to stroll along its banks.
LOCAL AREA
Activities in the local area include tennis at Mauprevoir, golf within 40 minutes, lake and river fishing, horse-riding, motor-racing at Le Vigeant and a variety of watersports in L’Isle Jourdain. The area is also ideal for walking and cycling.
There are some excellent restaurants, Poitiers, Cognac, various chateaux and the coast.
The village of Mauprevoir has a plan d'eau (man made lake) and park, a small sports stadium, tennis court and church. There are shops and supermarket for daily needs.
The town of Civray (15 kms) has a good range of shops, supermarkets and market.
Other places to visit include Snakes Island at La Trimouille, Monkey Valley at Romagne, Eagles Castle at Chauvigny, Charroux, La Rochelle, Confolens and Futuroscope.
