Both of our properties look out onto rolling countryside, and the grounds contain very mature trees including a magnificent walnut tree, which makes a wonderful spot for an evening sundowner!
Both properties are available for holiday and long term lets.
It is planned to have a pool installed for the coming 2007 season.
Well behaved pets are welcome at La Retreat.
There is a no smoking policy inside either of the gites.
La Grange - sleeps 8
La Grange is a stunning conversion with a huge living area comprising an open plan kitchen/dining area and a lounge with French doors opening onto a large terrace.
The kitchen is well equipped with a full size gas cooker, washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer; there is ample cupboard space and work surfaces. Adequate china, glass and cutlery etc. is provided.
Plenty of seating in the lounge, which is complete with a TV and DVD player, French doors lead onto a large terrace with patio furniture and a bar-b-cue and wonderful views.
Upstairs there are 4 large double bedrooms, 2 have double beds and 2 have twin beds. The largest double room has an en suite shower and a very attractive vanity unit with free standing plumbed wash hand basin. There is a large family bathroom with a bath and shower over, wash hand basin and toilet plus a separate toilet.
La Porcherie - sleeps 2-3
Beautifully converted piggery which still retains the original stonework walls and exposed beams, it is an open plan design with large double bedroom and shower room on the mezzanine.
There is a well equipped kitchen with a full size gas cooker, washing machine, fridge and microwave. Plenty of china, cutlery and cooking implements are provided in good sized cupboards with lots of work surface.
Next to the kitchen is a spacious dining area leading into the lounge, which has a double sofa bed and a smaller sofa and TV and DVD player. The French doors from the lounge lead onto a tiled patio with patio furniture and bar-b-cue.
Stairs from the lounge lead to a very attractive double bedroom and stylish shower room.
LOCAL AREA
The attractive town of St Yrieux la Perche has a number of fine restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. There are plenty of good supermarkets and also small specialist shops A general market takes place every two weeks on a Friday morning with an abundance of excellent food stalls, fresh vegetables and clothes and crafts.
A large lake with a beach is only 5 minutes drive from La Retreat - this is a lovely place to picnic and the lake has a very safe swimming area for children.
Grotte de Villars - the largest underground grotto network in the Perigord.
Oradour-sur-Glane - commemorative museum and resource centre.
Lascaux - renowned for it's cave paintings.
Jumilhac le Grand - beautiful town and chateau.
