LOCAL AREA

Callengeville lies at the edge of the low forest of EU with the high forest above along the Bresle river valley. The 15th century castle of Rambures and the very large forest of Eawy are both 12.5 miles away. Historic Dieppe with its museums and castles, great shopping, night life and seafood restaurants is 23 miles away, as is the coast. Historic Rouen is only 37 miles. Foucarmont is the nearest large village with supermarket, restaurants, bakery, and cafe/bar (2 miles). Neufchatel en Bray is a delightful market town, only a ten minute drive away.

La Cité de la Mer
The creation of La Cité de la Mer in
Cherbourg is the result of the will to explain and share human adventure under the sea, by illustrating through the history of the town and its traditions, the construction of submarines and the scientific saga associated with it. The decommissioning of The Redoutable and the necessity of saving the old transatlantic terminal were two major reasons that contributed to the birth of La Cité de la Mer.

Rouen
The city of
Rouen has grown and prospered in a remarkable natural site. Located on a meander of the Seine, surrounded by forests and by chalky cliffs, Rouen's unique setting has inspired many painters and writers.

Louvre
The "Grand Louvre" is a part of the "Grand Travaux" or Major Works defined by the former President of the Republic, François Mitterrand, which also includes the new Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Opéra Bastille and the Grande Arche de la Défense.

Dieppe, A Town of Discovery
Dieppe is today a busy town of 35.000 population, the third largest in
Upper Normandy. It is steeped in history, much of it connected with the English-speaking world in good times and bad. The name derives from the Viking word "djupa", meaning "deep": the Viking explorers found on this stretch of coast the draught they needed to beach their boats. This was the origin of what was to become in the 11th Century William the Conqueror's base for his conquest of England, and in the 16th Century the principal port of the Kingdom of France.
