These pleasant cottages are very clean, full of character, tastefully decorated and situated in a remarkable, unspoilt setting in a village famous for its 18th Century abbey, near the medieval market towns of Montrichard and Saint-Aignan on the River Cher.

The paved terrace, flooded with sunshine, is a plus.  It is also beneficial to be close to the friendly owners (close also to the park and supermarket).

The owner is bi-lingual and a former French Lecturer with a wealth of teaching experience in the UK. Tailored-made lessons offered (up to University level) at reasonable rates and house hunting help is also offered on request.

You will be warmly welcomed whatever the season and the duration of your stay.

Les Roses (A)
Small, quaint, spotless, compact and attractive (sleeps 1-2).

Downstairs
A fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, shower-room (shower, wc, washbasin) and comfortable sitting room.

Upstairs
Up a steep but original wooden staircase is the bedroom with a double bed, extra wc and washbasin and good furniture, Velux and double glazed window with an electric operated blind.

The cottage is very old, with exposed pegged beams and an original tiled floor upstairs.  To reach the entrance there are 3 steps.  All windows are double glazed with electric-operated blinds to keep it cool in Summer.  All rooms have a convector heater with a thermostat.

Les Jonquilles (B)
Roomy, comfortable, tastefully decorated, on one level (sleeps 2-6).

Can be ideal for a couple who like space or a family (with friends).  Very well furnished rooms with traditional furniture.

Includes dining-room, lounge, well-equipped kitchen with washing-machine, 2 bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin bed room with doubles), bathroom with bath, shower hose, separate shower with cubicle, wc and washbasin.  All windows are double glazed, security locked outside doors, shutters, convector heaters with thermostat.

In both cottages 2 files are provided:  one illustrated with 14 suggested routes, places of interest, and the other one with bi-lingual notes on the inventory, the village, the area and outdoor activities.  A mini tourist office room is available for viewing brochures for your outings.

Both cottages have their own paved terrace with garden furniture for eating, an ideal place for reading, sun-bathing and relaxing in peace.

You have access to the owner's garden to play pétanque, dry your clothes on the line or barbecuing around a stone table among wild flowers.

Sorry no pets and no smoking inside the cottages.

LOCAL AREA

In the village, the 18th century Abbey with its gothic church, now housing an American University, has a Street Museum depicting 20th century rural life and a highly-regarded Music Festival as well as other activities (theatrical, painting courses); "Masters" on specific musical themes and entertainment taking place during the Summer Season.  For fins gourmets there are wine storerooms or "chais" open to visitors and a famous cheese-making farm.

Pontlevoy is ideal for cycling, horse-riding, nature, golf within 15-28kms, architecture or music.  You don't have to drive very far before finding a chateau, a forest, a river or a museum to suit everyone's taste.

A few miles away, among troglodytes dwellings, are the 'caves' for growing mushrooms, storing thousands of wine bottles or for housing exhibitions (silk worms).
