Our pretty cottages with cozy woodburners and central heating make a perfect year-round base for house-hunting, bird and wildlife watching, exploring chateaux and vineyards, churches, villages and excellent restaurants. The lazy River Charente is close by for swimming, boating and fishing. We are only 10 mins from the beautiful Roman town of Saintes, 45 mins from the stunning sandy pine-fringed Atlantic beaches.
The French-speaking English owners live on-site and can offer help and advice if needed.
There are 2 one bedroomed cottages, La Petite Pommeraie and L'Etable, a studio and a 2 bedroomed cottage comprising L'Etable and the studio together.
Accommodation
The cottages all enjoy a good degree of privacy, situated in a large and pretty garden. All have their own private terraces, screened by mature trees and shrubs, and all have the use of the main garden with mature trees, including a large willow, providing shade where needed. All are on ground floor, have exposed beams, are light airy and spacious with plenty of privacy and space around them to enjoy the peace and quiet of this gem of a property at the river end of a small hamlet.
L'Etable (part) - sleeps 2-5
Bedroom with 5' double bed, and a good sized living room with woodburning stove, good comfortable sofabeds which can sleep 3 more. Separate fitted kitchen with full cooking facilities, washing machine and bathroom with bath and shower. South facing terrace with garden furniture.
La Petite Pommeraie - sleeps 2-5
Bedroom with large 5' double bed, spacious living room with woodburning stove, a good 3' divan/daybed and very comfortable double sofa-bed. Separate kitchen with full cooking facilities, washing machine, and bathroom with shower. Terrace with garden furniture and barbeque.
L'Etable (whole) - sleeps 4-7
Bedroom with 5' double bed, bathroom with bath and shower, kitchen with full cooking facilities, microwave and washing machine, good sized living room with woodburning stove, good comfortable sofabeds which can sleep 3 and a further bedroom/living room arranged as a studio, sleeping 2 (or 3 if you use a z-bed as well) with a kitchenette and shower room. 2 terraces with garden furniture, 1 facing north and west with full views across the fields to the sunset, the other facing south.
Studio - sleeps 2
Comprising living room with an excellent quality sofabed (which can be left open or folded away as you wish), a kitchenette with 2-ring hob, mini oven, microwave and fridge, and an adjoining shower room. Terrace with garden furniture facing north and west with full views across the fields to the sunset.

There is so much to explore in this enchanting region, both in Summer and Winter. Whether your interest is wildlife, vineyards, chateaux, Cognac, Bordeaux, Pineau des Charentes, the Zoo at La Palmyre, the Aquarium at La Rochelle, Futuroscope at Poitiers, the Roman architecture on your doorstep in Saintes, cycling, swimming, surfing, sailing, windsurfing, hang-gliding, parachuting, golf, horseriding, rambling, boating on river or marsh, the list is endless.
The beautiful sandy beaches are all within a 40/50 min drive with safe bathing for children and other amenities as needed.
