The historic town of Domfront is approximately eight miles to the north. The ports of Caen and St Malo are about one and a half hours drive with Le Havre and Cherbourg just under three hours away. Guests choosing to travel to Calais or Boulogne should allow about five hours.
The cottage which is constructed in local stone with a tile roof provides accommodation for up to four people and a baby. The cottage is equipped to a high standard and as this is the first season all interior furnishings are brand new. There are two patio areas to the front and side of the property equipped with garden furniture, parasol and barbeque.
The sitting room provides comfortable seating around a large Godin log burning stove with low level tables and lights. There is a small micro hi-fi system, DVD player and television with free to air UK channels available via the satellite dish.
To the left of the staircase is the compact and well equipped kitchen with gas inset hob and built in under oven, fridge (with small freezer compartment), dishwasher, microwave oven, kettle and toaster. The washing machine is situated in the utility area down two steps to the side of the cottage.
The spacious and light bathroom has a full size bath with shower attachment, WC and fitted vanity unit with wash hand basin and over lights. There is a wall mounted electric heater for the colder months.
The central staircase leads up to the upstairs floor where there are two bedrooms. The first, a double with full length french doors opening onto a small balcony and the second a twin with two single beds which may be placed together if required and used with king size bedding. Both rooms are comfortably furnished with bedside tables, clocks and lamps, adequate hanging and drawer space and a chair. The travel cot can be placed in either bedroom and a high chair and folding pushchair supplied on request.

LOCAL AREA
Sandy beaches are an hour away, but the leisure lake at La Ferté Macé is closer and has a swimming beach, board sailing, pedaloes, par 3 golf and other attractions. Ambrières (5 miles) has a lake with similar facilities and the Bicycle Velo Rail at St Loup de Gast is also worth a visit. Bagnoles de l’Orne (a health spa) is a smart inland resort (15 miles) with swimming, golf, riding, tennis, spa treatments and a casino. Ceaucé has a small lake and play area for children with a maze and fitness equipment. The Fôret des Andaines has many miles of well signposted footpaths.
Day to day shopping can be done in Ceaucé (1 mile) and there are larger hypermarkets in Mayenne and La Ferté Macé (15 miles), whilst Laval, Alençon and Caen provide a full day of shopping.
Day trips to Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches are easily achievable as are the chateaux in the northern Loire, Mont Saint Michel, Alençon and Falaise.
