'Le Moulin de Palbas' is a 16th century estate and its atmosphere still reflects the serenity of the monks, the former occupants. Since the farming as such was abandoned a long time ago, its 33 hectares consist of woods, prairies, marshland and a lake. The water mill that gave the estate its name is no longer there, but has left us its foundations.
Here we have created three cottages, 'le bois', for 6 to 25 people, 'le chêne' for a max; of 4 people as well as a cottage for 6, 'l'étang', with a private terrace on the lake (from 2008 onwards). Both can be rented from 3 consecutive nights onwards, in low and half season.
Outside you can enjoy the swimming pool (10m x 5m), the terrace, table tennis, table football and a playground; a vegetable garden and fruit trees await you with their fresh products, depending on the season.
Our two cottages 'les petits berthais' (sleeps 6) and 'les champs du Riau' (sleeps 5) are old farmhouses in a style that is typical for this region. They are independent and are located at 1.5 km and 3 km from 'le moulin de palbas'. They can be rented per week from Saturday to Saturday.
For further details on the cottages to help you choose the cottage you prefer and the formula that corresponds with the number of people in your party, please have a look at our website.
We hope to be able to welcome you soon in this beautiful place!
LOCAL AREA
Pruniers has a bread shop, bar, tobacconist and post office.
The Berry region is rich in history ('les Ducs de Berry) and culture (Liszt, Chopin, George Sand, Alain Fournier, Balzac), but has not been discovered by tourists yet. The rivers Cher and Indre flow quietly, the landscape is hilly with meadows and forest. Don't be surprised to meet deer, wild boar, rabbits and hare and a number of different birds.
The nearby forest and the country roads invite you to long or short walks, bike-tours, or trips on horseback. Do bring your pet, if it's a cat, dog or horse: they will love it here too! In the autumn the weather is usually still warm and nice and you won't be able to resist gathering mushrooms. Even in winter does nature spoil us.
In the nearby village you can play tennis and for golf fans there are three golf courses within 40 kms and a fourth just a bit further away.
For cultural activities there are picturesque villages, interesting daytrips for all ages to the Loire chateaux and their famous vineyards, the Noirlac Abbey, the 'Vallée Noire' and the house of George Sand in Nohant, the 13th century water mill in Angibault, the gardens in Orsan, the romantic music weeks and the festival of traditional music, the Futuroscope, the Palace Jacques Coeur and the cathedral in Bourges, the Parc Naturel de la Brenne and the Parc Animalier de la Haute Touche, France's biggest outdoor zoological garden. In addition there are village festivals, markets and flea markets.
