The gites are based in the original stone farm buildings and courtyard and include a lovingly restored cottage and converted stables, featuring exposed beams, and pine furniture and traditional limestone walls.
Gite 1 - 'Poppies' - Sleeps 10
Ground floor - WC, large well equipped kitchen/dining room including dishwasher and microwave; separate lounge with stone fireplace, three piece suite, coffee table and double bed settee. Upstairs - three large bedrooms: two with king size beds, and one with bunk beds and two single beds. Separate shower room, bathroom and WC with wash basin.
Gite 2 - 'Sunflowers' - Sleeps 5
Ground floor - well-equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher, large lounge/diner with 3-piece suite. Upstairs - two large bedrooms, one with double bed and en-suite WC/shower room and one with three single beds with a separate bathroom and WC.
Gite 3 - 'Hollyhocks' - Sleeps 2/3
Ground floor - open plan living/dining room with corner kitchen. Upstairs - large double bedroom with en-suite WC shower room.
Gite 4 - 'Swallows' - Sleeps 10
Ground floor - large open plan living/dining/kitchen with dishwasher. Double bedroom and WC/shower room, with facilities for a handicapped person. Upstairs - one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and one with bunk beds and two single beds, a bathroom with WC, and a separate shower room.
There is a large, private patio at the rear, facing west.
Gite 5 - 'Barn Owl' - Sleeps 5
Overlooking the pool, one double bedroom, one twin bedroom with additional put-up bed, bathroom and large open plan living/dining room with well-equipped corner kitchen with dishwasher.
Laundry room with washing machines, sink and ironing facilities plus a freezer for communal use.
The enclosed 12m x 6m pool with underwater floodlights is situated within easy access of all the gites. It has extensive patio and sunbathing areas with shower, and ample sunloungers. The wide roman steps lead to a 1m deep level area, all of which provide a safe area for children to play, followed by the maximum depth of 1m 50cm. There is a small children's paddling pool adjacent to the main pool.
Other Facilities:
Play Area - safe area close to the gites with Swings, Badminton net, Boules, Junior Croquet and for the very young Paddling Pool, Sand Pit, Rocking Snail and Tricycle.
Games Room - with Table Tennis, Pool Table, Bar Football, Basketball net and Darts (Darts with adult supervision).
We have bikes for hire (childseats available).
LOCAL AREA
The nearest town, Mauzé-sur-le-Mignon (3km) has a variety of small shops, supermarket and twice weekly market. Surgères (11km) has 3 supermarkets and full range of shops. A baker also calls at Pégon three times a week. There's a wealth of good restaurants within 5 and 10 minutes.
This is the ideal spot for peace and tranquility, close to the forest of Benon and the Marais Poitevin or 'Venise Verte' National Park - punts are available for hire. For bird-watchers there are some excellent reserves close by. There are several 18 hole golf courses with visitors always welcome.
We are only ½ hour from the sea and the historic town of La Rochelle and within easy reach of Cognac, Saintes, Rochefort, St Jean D'Angely, Niort and Futuroscope near Poitiers.
