At Logis de la Croix we have developed the 17th French century farmhouse and attached barns into four individual holiday cottages alongside our own house. All of our gites have been designed to ensure a relaxed and comfortable holiday.
At the rear of all of the gites, French doors open from the living rooms on to your own tiled patio with space to relax with tables chairs and loungers plus the convenience of a gas BBQ. From here you can see the pool area and across the Gibourne valley.
The 2 heated swimming pools are surrounded by a wrought iron fence and access is only through a self closing and locking gate.
Beyond the pool area there is an acre of garden with swings, slide, a wendy house and a climbing frame for the kids all surrounded by miles of open farmland that forms the Gibourne valley.
Gite 1 (sleeps 4)
Open plan ground floor with exposed beams, stone walls and massive fireplace. Lounge area with sofa and chairs, TV and video with selection of films. Fitted kitchen with gas cooker, dishwasher, fridge and microwave (washing machine in bathroom).
First floor - double bedroom with views over the pool area, twin bedded room overlooking the courtyard and a modern bathroom.
Gite 2 (sleeps 10)
Ground floor - fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, 2 fridges and microwave. The large dining table seats 10. Archway to spacious lounge with beamed cathedral ceiling, stone fireplace with log burner, TV and video. Family bedroom with double bed, set of bunk beds and fitted wardrobe. Second bedroom with two single beds.
First floor - 2 bedrooms, both with double beds and ensuite shower room with shower, sink and toilet.
Gite 3 (sleeps 5)
Ground floor - modern fully fitted kitchen/diner with gas cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and microwave. Archway to comfortably furnished lounge with TV and video and a log burner. 2 bedrooms, each with wardrobe and bedside table, 1 with single bed, the other with a set of bunk beds. Toilet and vanity sink.
First floor - master bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, bathroom with bath, large vanity sink and toilet.
Gite 4 (sleeps 8)
Ground floor - fully fitted kitchen diner with gas cooker, dishwasher, washing machine microwave and fridge/freezer, dining table for 8. Archway to spacious lounge with beamed ceiling, exposed stone wall, TV and video. One bedroom with 2 singles, the second with a set of bunk beds. Shower room with toilet, sink and shower.
First floor - master bedroom with double bed and ensuite bathroom with toilet, large vanity sink and bath. Second bedroom with double bed and ensuite shower room with toilet, large vanity sink and shower.
LOCAL AREA
The pretty town of Matha is only 10 minutes drive with shops, supermarkets, banks, pizza restaurant, bars, open air swimming pool and tennis courts. The coastline of the Charante-Maritime is ideal for lazy days at the beach.
The area has a wealth of interests and activities, including parks and boating, local markets, chateaux, Futuroscope at Poiters, an excellent Zoo near Royan. Go-karting at St. Jean d’Angely, picnicking and cycling in Aulnay forest. Visit the wine cellars of Cognac, the Aquarium at La Rochelle, the beaches at Chatelaillon and La Rochelle, the Ille de Ré and Ille D’Oleron; there is an abundance of Romanesque Churches and architecture and at Saintes there is the Amphitheatre.
