"La Senardaie" is a quaint little cottage, down a single track lane, 1km outside La Ferriere de Flee. If you want to be cut off for a week or two and/or want a tranquil base from which to explore the region, or just sit in the completely enclosed garden and "chill out", this is the place you have been looking for. The area is renowned for its rivers and lakes, both used for fishing and swimming, to say nothing of the golf facilities.
Accommodation:
Large kitchen/breakfast room, with original low beamed ceiling. Fully equipped with gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, double sink, kettle and, of course, a teapot. Plenty of storage space and worktop and in the cupboards you will find all that you may need for cooking. Table and two chairs.
Generous sized lounge/dining room with three-piece suite, coffee table, dining room table and chairs. Glass fronted fireplace for the use of those taking an out of season break. TV/video and DVD player. Small collection of video cassettes (no television channels, either English or French, are available).
Bedroom (carpeted) with double bed, wardrobe, small chest of drawers, bedside cabinets with lamps. The bed will be made up for your arrival.
WC, washbasin, shower over a bath (sorry, bath not usable) and a razor point/light.
All the rooms overlook the garden (except shower room).
Electric convector fires, electricity included.
Garden - about 600 m2, very secluded (you can get that all over tan if you wish) and facing south. Mostly laid to lawn with mature trees and shrubs, giving welcome shade from the sun. Small patio, garden furniture, B.B.Q. and sun loungers.
There are many tourist leaflets in the cottage.
Pets welcome (but not in the bedroom). No smoking.
LOCAL AREA
The next village of Segre has a heated indoor swimming pool, banks, chemists, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and weekly market
The region is renowned for the chateaux, waterways – some with areas for swimming and other water activities - and of course, wine. There is a fine selection of golf courses and it is only 2 hours drive from the coast or in the opposite direction, Futuroscope (Poitiers).
Visit Angers, with the castle, Apocalypse tapestry and Cointreau distillery, with tasting, of course. Saumur also has much to offer. There are loads of chateaux and the Fontevraud Abbey is well worth a visit.
Domaine de la Petite Couere is a rather unique natural park with over 300 animals and plenty of picnic areas.
For a real taste of France "La Guinguette", an open air restaurant between Feneu and Montreuil Juigne, on the banks of the river Mayenne, is a must.
For a day out on the beach, Lac de Maine, near Angers, has a swimming area with a beach and pedalos.
The zoo of Doue La Fontaine has a lush tropical environment with over 500 species. Closeby is "the" garden of roses.
